Black Therapists in AZ (BTAZ) is a coalition of Black and culturally-affirming mental-health professionals serving Arizona, founded with the mission to make mental health care accessible and relevant to Black communities. BTAZ hosts community-oriented events such as “Meet the Black Therapists in AZ,” which feature panel discussions (on topics like mental health for Black men, maternal mental health, trauma and resilience, etc.), opportunities to ask professionals questions, and vendor resources — all aimed at reducing stigma and improving access to care. They have also organized programs such as the “Afya Nia Voucher Program,” which provided free therapy sessions to individuals or families, helping ensure therapy is available even to those who may face financial or systemic barriers.
