EMPOWERING WOMEN: What can they do to advocate for mental health?

To empower means to grant official authority or legal power, to make/give someone stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.

Control over one's own life and equality of access to society are two characteristics of empowerment.

Women's empowerment is the process through which women acquire power and equal opportunities to engage in personal, social, and economic undertakings, contributing to society in all spheres on an equal footing with their male counterparts.

However, this also comes with challenges and difficulties that are often unavoidable.

Women's development is frequently stifled by fear of being rejected, maligned, treated as subordinate, or less than. To empower women, it is necessary to provide them with the assurance they require to self-actualize/utilize their God- given gifts and talents alongside their male counterparts to create a better world.

One way women can do this is by creating and implementing a personal wellness plan. A personal wellness plan is designed to help women identify their life goals, strengths, and weaknesses, and use them for personal growth emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

A goal-driven personal wellness plan may look something like this:

  • Evaluate the spheres of your existence and influence (physical, financial, spiritual, mental, family/relationships, work/ professional}.

  • Establish goals. Set goals and be mindful of what must be done.

  • Be precise. Knowing your goals will help.

  • Establish attainable goals. Make a forward movement.

  • Be sensible. Establish more manageable, smaller goals.

  • Find the resources. Reduce potential issues by using useful resources.

  • Set time constraints. Consider attainable, precise deadlines.

  • Analyze development. Adapt as necessary.

  • Daily self-care check-ins (exercise, diet, positive self-affirmations, rest/relaxation, social engagement, spiritual awareness)

Every woman should be empowered to make their dreams come true and live the life God created them to live without fear or doubt. Please my dear friend and sister show your brilliance, courage, beauty, and power. Be Empowered!
