Winning Your Goals : What's blocking you?

What are barriers? According to the dictionary, a barrier is a fence or other obstacle that prevents movement or access.

The things in our lives that block you, hinder you, cause you to hesitate, pause, or turn the other way are barriers. Not all barriers are bad. Some barriers are in place for your protection , safety and peaceful wellbeing . Lets take this as an example : detour signs on the streets/roads/highways/ due to unstable road or driving conditions or sign near large bodies of water that may indicate flood or drowning hazards. In any event, not all barriers are bad

However, the barriers that stop you from achieving your goals are, in most cases, all together different.

Let us review common barriers many people face. The naysayers statements such as " are you crazy," "you'll never be able to do that," or "that's a stupid idea." These are just a few that you may hear.

But the ones that come from within us are the worst. We tell ourselves we cant do it ; no one has ever done it that way, or we are not smart enough, tough enough, pretty enough or we simply are not worth it. These are just a handful of examples of the negative self-talk that causes barriers in our lives, When you listen to negative self-talk, you are allowing your fear of failure to block you from your greatness.

So lets focus on ways we can start removing those negative self - talk barriers. My dear sister, my dear brother, you were made to do great things. Lets make a pact today to:

STOP BELIEVING THE LIE

Stop believing the lie that you can't do it, that you are not worth it, that you are not smart enough, or don't know enough, etc. You fill in the lie that you have been feeding yourself or letting others feed you. Instead , start telling yourself , you are smart enough and you can do it. if you can dream it, you can become it. No dream is dead if you are willing to work hard at making it happen.

TIME IS IN YOUR SIDE

You are never too old to start working on your dream and making it a reality. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. He didn't live to see the manifestation of his dream, but what if he was afraid of his dream? What if he let naysayers stop him from dreaming and pursuing his dream? What if he lets politics, money or any barrier stop him? Where would we be today? Dr. King's dream is still unfolding. Its not even finished yet. How about you? Begin making your dream a reality and observe what happens. Your dreams are meant to live long after you start them. So get started. Get out there and show the world what you've got.

IF AT FIRST YOU DONT SUCCEED, GET UP AND TRY AGAIN

How many success were born out of failures? Oh , I don't know a bazillion! When a baby starts to walk its first few steps and fall, you will never hear a mother say, "Oh well , I guess you are not meant to walk, just give up"! Or when you play in your first baseball or basketball game, no coach will says, "Oh well, I guess you are not any good at this, so just give up and never try playing again." No, No, and No. A good coach or a good mother says , "That's Okay. Let's get back up and try it again." You go to practice, you get stronger. You research, you Google or Youtube ( you can learn anything from Google and Youtube). Basically, you get the hustle on. You get back up , and you keep trying. A God - given dream x Persistence + Perseverance = Success.

So come on! The world is waiting to see your greatness.
